Amazon’s Prime Now is expanding into fast food delivery.
In a new trial launched today in San Francisco over in the States, Prime members can order food from their favourite restaurants and get delivered in an hour or less.
Using a mobile app, customers in the trial area can see restaurants who have signed up, browse menus, place orders and track their delivery in real time.
“San Francisco is known for incredible restaurants, and now Prime members across the city can enjoy their favorite local restaurants at home or at the office,” said Gus Lopez, general manager, Amazon Restaurants. “With Prime Now Restaurant Delivery, customers can expect to pay the same price for their favorite dishes whether they visit the restaurant or order the same items for delivery. Let’s just say that places like Foodora are probably sweating a little.
“Prime Now has no hidden fees or menu markups, and delivery is free for a limited time.”
If the trial is success, one can probably expect us in the UK to be able to order fast food, along with everything else we get from Amazon, very soon.
Here in Blighty, London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol and Edinburgh are all currently involved in Amazon’s Prime Now same-day delivery service.
