McDonald’s is launching a huge Big Mac in its UK stores – but only for a limited time.
Available from today (Wednesday, February 7), the so-called Grand Big Mac will be on sale until March 20.
It’s one of two new additions alongside the ‘Mac Jr’.
The specials are in honour of the 50th birthday of the original Big Mac.
Grand Big Mac: The taste you love, in a larger size. Bigger sesame topped buns, bigger 100% beef patties, two slices of cheese, and all the rest. Including that sauce, of course.
Mac Jr: Smaller than a Big Mac, but still packs a pickle. One beef patty, a slice of cheese, and that iconic sauce.
Both have been available in the US in the past but it’s the first time the burgers have arrived in the UK.
Steven Howells, Head of Marketing at McDonald’s UK said: “As an iconic McDonald’s product, we are proud and excited to be celebrating 50 years of the legendary Big Mac and for the first time ever in the UK, introducing the two new sizes for a limited time.
“We know a lot of our customers will remember the 1974 launch of the Big Mac in the UK and have continued to enjoy the burger and pass the Big Mac love on since then, it remains our most iconic burger!”
The Big Mac first appeared in the USA in 1968.
Since then it’s been sold in over 100 countries across the world.
And one more fact for stats fans, if you stacked all the pickles from Big Macs in the UK last year, you could reach space… five times over.
The more you know…
