Easy Chocolate Cupcakes Recipe

This super simple chocolate cup cake recipe needs just six ingredients and takes less than 30 minutes.

This easy chocolate cupcakes recipe will make for 12 cakes which can then eaten plain or iced and decorated as you see fit.


To make 12 servings

  • 95g Self-raising flour
  • 115g Butter
  • 115g Brown sugarOr caster sugar
  • 20g Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 large eggs

How to make easy chocolate cupcakes:

  1. Preheat oven to 180c/gas mark 7.
  2. Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs to the mix one at a time.
  4. Sift in the baking powder, flour and the cocoa powder to the mixture and fold in gently.
  5. Tip: If the mixture seems a little too thick add a small amount of milk.
  6. Spoon a tablespoon of mix into each cupcake case, ensuring all are even.
  7. Cook for 20 – 25 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  8. Leave to cool for 5 minutes before taking out of tin.
