Sausage Pasta Bake student recipe

This Sausage Pasta Bake recipe makes for a cheap and super tasty student meal.
You can make this sausage pastabake recipe by either cooking the pasta before for a quicker meal or without cooking or boiling the pasta first, meaning less washing up and bother!
You could also switch out the pork sausages for another variety or even veggie sausages to make it a vegetarian dish.
And as for the veggies, we’ve used mushrooms, courgette and red and green peppers here but you could use others.
Ingredients
To make 1 serving
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Onion 1 Roughly chopped
- Garlic clove 1 Roughly chopped
- Tinned chopped tomatoes 1
- Pinch of sugar
- Worcestershire sauceOptional
- SausagesObvs
- Mixed Veg (Mushrooms, Peppers, Courgette)
- Pasta
- Grated cheese
- Fresh Tomato (optional) 1 Not essential
How to make student Sausage Pasta Bake:
- Start by preparing the veg by slicing up the tomato and cutting the rest all into bite-size pieces, and do the same with the sausages
- Heat oil in a large frying pan at a medium heat and fry the onion for 5 minutes until softened and golden.
- If pre-cooking the pasta (quicker but more washing up!) then at the same time, in a sauce pan, cook the pasta in lightly salted boiling water per the pack instructions and drain.
- Back in the frying pan, add the garlic and sausages and cook for another minute.
- Mix in the veg, tinned chopped tomatoes and sugar and raise the heat until boiling then allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce or a hot sauce (Tabasco) if preferred
- In a baking dish add the cooked or uncooked pasta and the contents of the frying pan.
- Mix everything together well in the dish.
- If you’re using uncooked pasta, you’ll now need to cook it in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes, covered in foil and giving it a good mix every 10 minutes or so.
- If you’re using cooked pasta or otherwise after 30 minutes of cooking if you started with uncooked pasta, top with the grated cheese and sliced tomato.
- Bake at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve with buttered bread.
